The Coasts

Further down the Atlantic Coast, the beaches get wider and more sandy. The lakes, pine forests and sand dunes of Aquitaine are ideal for a relaxing beach holiday, while the waves in the Biarritz area attract surfers and watersports enthusiasts from all over the world. The proximity of cities like Bordeaux, Bayonne and Biarritz means that you can take time out to soak up some culture as well as the sun.

Languedoc-Roussillon on the Mediterranean coast is a region of sandy beaches, fishing ports, vineyards and orchards. With a backdrop of the Pyrenees, the beaches near the border with Spain are beautiful, while the resorts on the other side of the region are in a privileged position close to the Camargue, an area known for its salt marshland, flamingoes and wild horses.
